The Board of Denturists is considering adopting “substantial equivalency standard rules" to comply with Second Substitute House Bill (2SHB) 1724. This bill requires that disciplining authorities waive education, training, experience, and exam requirements for applicants who have been credentialed in another state or states with substantially equivalent standards for at least two years immediately preceding their application and with no interruption in licensure lasting longer than 90 days.
These changes would impact WAC 246-812-120 Denturist licensure—Eligibility and application requirements, WAC 246-812-125- Denturist licensure—Endorsement, and WAC 246-812-159- Continuing competency requirements.
Notably:
-
The Board is considering removing the jurisprudence exam requirement for initial licensure for Washington residents and licensure by endorsement for out of state applicants.
-
The Board instead proposes requiring the jurisprudence exam for license renewal, during their first continuing education reporting period and,
-
Removes the jurisprudence exam as an ongoing CE (Continuing Education) requirement, currently to be completed every three years to maintain licensure.
The Board will hold the first rules workshop on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 1:00 PM, planned with the Board's regular meeting scheduled at 12:00 PM. These meetings will be held both in person and via webinar.
Those interested in attending this meeting, please note that pre-registration is not available. The meeting will be held via teams, using the following meeting link.
