Apply by May 18 for Phase 2 Provider Relief Fund Reporting Deadline Extension

May 13, 2022
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) announced that providers may request an extension of the deadline for Provider Relief Fund (PRF) reporting if one or more extenuating circumstances are met.

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) announced that providers may request an extension of the deadline for Provider Relief Fund (PRF) reporting if one or more extenuating circumstances are met.

Originally, dentists who received funds during the second phase of the Provider Relief Fund had until 11:59 PM ET March 1 to submit a report on the use of those funds in the Provider Relief Fund Reporting Portal. Now, if one or more extenuating circumstances are met, dentists may submit requests for late reporting for the second phase through 11:59 PM ET May 18.

Those whose requests are approved will be given 10 days to send their reports through the PRF Reporting Portal, and those whose requests to report late are not approved will remain non-compliant with the Terms and Conditions and will be required to return all funds to HRSA that were not reported.

According to the HRSA, an extenuating circumstance refers to any of the following:

  1. Severe illness or death — a severe medical condition or death of a provider or key staff member responsible for reporting hindered the organization’s ability to complete the report during the reporting period.
  2. Impacted by a natural disaster — a natural disaster occurred during or in close proximity of the end of the reporting period damaging the organization’s records or information technology.
  3. Lack of receipt of reporting communications — an incorrect email or mailing address on file with HRSA prevented the organization from receiving instructions prior to the reporting period deadline.
  4. Failure to click “Submit” — the organization registered and prepared a report in the PRF Reporting Portal but failed to take the final step to click “Submit” prior to deadline.
  5. Internal miscommunication or error — internal miscommunication or error regarding the individual who was authorized and expected to submit the report on behalf of the organization and/or the registered point of contact in the PRF Reporting Portal.
  6. Incomplete Targeted Distribution payments — the organization’s parent entity completed all General Distribution payments, but a Targeted Distribution(s) was not reported on by the subsidiary.

Interested providers should submit a Request to Report Late Due to Extenuating Circumstances Form indicating the extenuating circumstance. When filling out the form, providers must provide and attest to an explanation related to the applicable extenuating circumstance, however, supporting documentation will not be required.
